In June 2026, the Austin Museum of Popular Culture will launch a 90-day program featuring a retrospective exhibition showcasing the influential poster art and comic books of Gilbert Shelton, a key figure in the formative years of Austin’s culture change in the 1960’s an 70’s.

The Exhibit will include:

• Original posters and drawings by Gilbert Shelton

• Comic book panels and photographs that capture the essence of the era

• Screens displaying rolling information and imagery to provide context and enhance the visitor experience

• 8 special events with panel discussions, lectures and the opportunity for attendees to record oral history stories about their experiences in the past and current day
