AUSPOP (Austin Museum of Pop Culture), aspires to keep its’ membership and community in touch with monthly meetups referred to by us as our “Sunday Salons.” Previously held at our offices, we have recently forged a new relationship with Captain Quack’s Bakery and Coffeehouse on Menchaca Rd., which will afford us more space, amenities and a performance stage! As an additional endeavor, we seek to incorporate up-and-coming Austin-area talent to share their art and propagate new generational talent in our city. In addition, we love our legacy conversations, and with that said there will be plenty of images projected showing vintage poster art and Austin scenery images to go along with storytelling, as it’s Austin’s musical heritage inspires art from all mediums. The stories we will share incorporate not just the Armadillo World Headquarters, arguably our most well-known music venue, but also the Vulcan Gas Company (not the current one), Soap Creek Saloon, Castle Creek, The Split Rail, Broken Spoke, The Continental Club and all the other places that set the foundation for our city’s reputation as a live music hub! Join us as we explore the future artists of our city, celebrate our legacy and uplift those dedicated to making Austin as colorful and unique a place to come to as it has ever been!
