This black & white semi-gloss digital print poster is a re-envisioning of Kerry Awn’s first Soap Creek calendar (with realistic portrait of James Gurley from Big Brother and the Holding Co.), revived by the artist himself just for this event which celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Soap Creek Saloon! Original inspiration for the image of James Gurley, for which Kerry pulled, was by a series of celebrities from artist Bob Seidemann.
Celebrating Groover’s Paradise, this event included music by Lissa Hattersley of Greezy Wheels (now with her own group the Trip Trio), and Shawn Sahm (son of the great Doug Sahm)!
Also, this event was held at the old Austin Chronicle offices at 40th St., so this makes the event even more special.
