Last Sunday of the Month Free Concert

Join us for our May Day Free Concert! Featuring David Fore and John Inmon!

SouthPop welcomes welcomes David Fore at 7pm and John Inmon at 8pm. David Fore's "taste of fame" began as an original member of Bubble Puppy (of "Hot Smoke and Sassafras" fame, a record which hit #14 on the national US charts in 1969), and his drumming for that band gained him entrance into the Austin Chronicle Hall of Fame. After Bubble Puppy, David's band D-Day enjoyed #1 status on DJ Rodney Bingenheimer's Rodney on the Rock show on KROQ in Los Angeles with "Too Young To Date," which David co-wrote. This led to a trip to England resulting in the 1983 release of the band's eponymous LP on A&M Records. His subsequent work with The Eggmen has garnered him 11 wins in the "Best Cover Band" category of the Austin Chronicle's music poll, where he consistently lands in the Top 5 of the "Best Drummer" category.

The legendary John Inmon, is one of Texas' most soulful guitarists, whose work has added great depth to the recordings of Jimmy LaFave, Jerry Jeff Walker, and the historic Lost Gonzo Band. But beyond all that, John is a fine songwriter and artist in his own right.

Micael Priest: A Lot of Cojones and A Little Faith

  • Google Calendar ICS

Austin still reels from the loss of Micael Priest last September. A prolific artist and a member of the Armadillo Art Squad, Micael created a body of work that encapsulates nearly three decades of an evolving Austin music scene, he promoted through his fantastical posters and prints.

SouthPop is thrilled to mount an extensive exhibit of Priest’s work posters, prints, hand-drawn personal pieces and Armadillo ephemera. As we hang this exhibit, we fondly remember one of Micael’s favorite sayings: “ Remember, I’m naked under my clothes.”
The opening, March 10th, 6-9pm will feature live music by Denny Freeman 2 Guitars, Bass, and Drums.

The exhibition will run through June 16th during SouthPop’s regular hours, Thursday – Sunday 1-6pm.
